5 Keys to Overcoming Failure Donnis McCoy

Updated: Jan 13, 2022

  1. Learn from your mistakes and failures:

It is important to realize that even though things may have failed, You are not a failure. Failure is a part of success. As you grow in life and business you will make mistakes, I encourage you to learn from your mistakes and don't keep repeating the same ones over and over. Learn and grow from each failure or mistake. Again, you are not a failure so try again!

* Action Step: Write down the top three things you have learned from your last mistake or failed attempt.

2. Don't Dwell on it.

You must learn from your mistakes. Spend enough time evaluating what didn't work and analyze the effectiveness of your product or service. However, don't linger in discouragement or feelings of defeat. Get up, Refocus and Reinvent!

* Action Step: Reread the three things you learned from your previous mistakes.

3. Don't be afraid to try again.

Once you have failed at something, fear of failure will try to manifest. Move forward afraid and all! Fears unfaced will always cause you to miss moments of unforeseen victories. Your success is in you forging forward, even when the way seems uncertain or dim.

*Action Step: Refocus take what you have learned and try again.

4. Surround yourself with positive people.

Success breeds success. If you get this concept early it will save you some time and energy. People are your greatest asset but can also be your greatest liability. Carefully select who you can learn from, grow with and prosper with.

It may be your vision, but you need people to help you execute it. I believe everyone has destiny helpers that are skilled in areas you aren't that are looking for you to assist in your vision coming to pass.

* Action step: Pray for your Destiny helper(s) to find you. Also surround yourself with people that have been where you are trying to go.

5. Realize failure is part of the learning curve.

Finally, carefully ponder the first four points and determine within yourself you will not make the same mistake or continue to do the same unsuccessful things over and over again. You are a success. That comes as a result of your preparation, hard work and learning from failures.

*Action step: Think about your previous successes, write down the steps you took to bring about the success. Often times you don't have to reinvent the wheel.
